Solent Shuttle saved
We have celebrated the rescue of our Solent Shuttle service at both ends of the route with representatives from Southampton Pensioners Forum and the Portsmouth Pensioners Association.

Operations Manager Alex Hornby was joined by June Clarkson, Secretary of Portsmouth Pensioners Association, and her colleagues at Portsmouth’s Hard Interchange,
in the shadow of the famous Spinnaker Tower. We then travelled to Southampton’s Bargate where Don Harper, Secretary of Southampton Pensioners Forum, and his fellow committee members greeted us. Both groups
joined Alex in a champagne toast to the service.

Alex Hornby said that they hoped that the revised service would now be viable and sustainable.

“We are delighted to celebrate the continuation of the Solent Shuttle service, although without the additional funding, we have to position our own resources where they are most appreciated” said Alex Hornby, “We hope that the new timetable, offering a 2 hourly service, will give commuters and shoppers an alternative to using the car.”

Both June Clarkson and Don Harper said that many of their members who rely on bus transport would be relieved at the decision to retain the service.
